Worth waiting for? - SotW [Week of 6-5-11]

There is something to say about being landlocked. Sometimes I think I can see further across the mountains that when I look at the sea. Do just as many stories happen on the water?

SotW 6/5:
Atlantic  The Midway State

I saw the ocean swallow you.
through the haze, I search for you,
trying to find where I had you.

Hard London rain beat colour out
through the night my body shouts
telling me to hold you now

If you could feel my fire reach for you
flames draw high out to you
streetlight shines through my window,
it trembles for you
take my heart, there you go.
London's wild, but I'm alone.
You're so far but I'm not tired,

I'm coming for you.

All over waves and straight across
to the steps where we were lost
in the night, our bodies locked
all in your eyes the colours are
like the red runs through my heart
now it beats for you my love

If you could feel my fire reach for you
flames draw high out to you
streetlight shines through my window,
it trembles for you
take my heart, there you go.
London's wild, but I'm alone.
You're so far but I'm not tired,

I'm coming for you.

Tonight I feel restless Atlantic hum
across these waters for you we're still young.

Fire haze - SotW [Week of 5-29-11]

I like to be the one who does the decision making, but it is a bit like tying your tooth to the doorknob to get it out. It's hella anticipation, and finally no climax. The tooth's out I guess, but you coulda just let it fall on its own. Oh great, there's another decision.

SotW 5/29:
Shut Your Eyes  Snow Patrol

Shut your eyes and think of somewhere
Somewhere cold and caked in snow
By the fire we break the quiet
Learn to wear each other well

And when the worrying starts to hurt
and the world feels like graves of dirt
Just close your eyes until
you can imagine this place, yeah, our secret space at will

Shut your eyes, I spin the big chair
And you'll feel dizzy, light, and free
And falling gently on the cushion
You can come and sing to me

And when the worrying starts to hurt
and the world feels like graves of dirt
Just close your eyes until
you can imagine this place, yeah, our secret space at will
Shut your eyes
Shut your eyes
Shut your eyes
Shut your eyes
Shut your eyes and sing to me (Shut your eyes and sing to me)
Shut your eyes and sing to me (Shut your eyes and sing to me)
Shut your eyes and sing to me (Shut your eyes and sing to me)
Shut your eyes and sing to me (Shut your eyes and sing to me)

Always a next step - SotW [Week of 5-22-11]

How does it feel to be donezo? It is the same life. I do not know one person who says they have grown up. Out though? Maybe. ;P

SotW 5/22:
Circuital  My Morning Jacket

Spinning out gracefully
Going nowhere quickly
I am older, day by day
Still going back to my childhood way

Circuital
Round and round, patiently
Getting lost by the guide
And I’m all worked up over nothing

Circuits
All in and outConnect my body
Deep into the ground

Circuits
Connect the Earth to the Moon
And link our heavenly bodies
Not a moment too soon

Well you can fling open the windows
Or you can board them up
Saints to a crown
Or Christ's humble cup

You think you'll find yourself out there
Out in the lion’s den
In somebody's battle
Over belief systems

Or disappear into the vacuum
Total neutrality
Well you can't lose nothing
But nothing can be gained

Well anyway you cut it
We're just spinning around
Out on the circuits
Over the hollow grounds
Out on the circuits
Over the hollow grounds
Heading right back in the same place
That we started out
Right back in the same place
Right back in the same place
That we started out

Careful in the Dark - SotW [Week of 5-15-11]

I like when you can hear history. I prefer rum, but this song is too legitimately rootsy to ignore. Makes me wanna go down south and find some trouble.

SotW 5/15:
Whiskey Queen  Reese Van Riper

She flaunts her whiskey pocket,
A damsel on her knees,
She sways and lays her hair down,
God knocks me off my feet.
Corrupt the mind and flesh now,
She lights my cigarette,
Hair pull quick smack and lash now,
I got not one regret.

She's my whiskey queen.
She's my whiskey queen.

Hope her father musters mercy,
For all our dirty deeds,
Hell no the cross won't save me,
For she's not yet 13.

She's my whiskey queen.
She's my whiskey queen.
